There WILL be a meeting this week, Friday, 17 July
Based on a vote last week, we will resume weekly meetings. The upcoming meeting will be a little different. President Mike will set up several chat rooms within Zoom and those who volunteered for a committee can choose to go to a committee meeting. If you prefer to simply have a coffee and chat with other members informally you will have that option too.

Saturday Morning Coffee Social
Last Saturday a small but friendly group of club members met on Zoom. This was a very informal meeting. We each had our favourite coffee mug and managed to solve some of the world's problems. Rest assured we left some to solve the next time we meet. If you have a few minutes the next time, consider joining. We only chatted for 1/2 hour but you could drop in just to say hello.
Past Club Members
A tradition in the district is honour Rotarians who have past away over the last year. Do you know of any members from long ago who past away recently? The attached info below was sent to all the clubs.
The planning committee for the District Conference would like your Club to assist in the memorial section of the conference.
Please send the District Office a high quality picture of the Rotarian(s) your club have lost this past Rotary year, their names, the date of their passing, your Club name, and a short highlight of the member.
This information will assist us building the memorial.
The email is .
Please have the information to us by August 1, 2020.

Yours In Rotary

Rotary Rides for You Can Ride 2
At the request of the Rotary Club of Spruce Grove here is another activity to support the community.
On Saturday, August 8, 2020, the Rotary Club of Spruce Grove is hosting Rotary Rides for You Can Ride 2, a motorcycle ride and poker run in support of You Can Ride 2, a program that loans adapted bikes to children with special needs.
The event begins in Spruce Grove, ends in Edmonton, and has a leisurely 250 km tour in between.  All the details about the event and the cause, including registration and volunteer links, can be found at
Right now, we are opening this event to only Rotarians and their friends and families as well as families and friends of the You Can Ride 2 program.  There are limited registrations available!  We are only taking 60 riders in this inaugural year, so act fast!  If you're a Rotarian who doesn't ride, and you live in or west of Edmonton, please consider coming out to spectate or volunteer!

Strathcona Food Bank & Grocery Gift Cards
The need is great even in our community so at a recent board meeting we voted to contribute $500 to the Food Bank. Our original plan was to conduct a food drive. We were going to ask individual Rotarians to help out donating and gathering needed food. That becomes risky in this environment hence the donation of money. As individuals you can still help out by purchasing Sobeys/Safeway gift cards from Erin Stephen then drop them off or mail them to the Food Bank. This helps out our Interact Club and the Food Bank. Information on how to contact Erin follows:
Rotarians can send Erin a text. 780-235-7465 Etransfer to It doesn’t require a password. She will arrange a convenient "contactless" drop off.
The address of the Strathcona Food Bank is:
255 Kaska Road
