The meeting last week was well attended. I don't recall the exact number but there more than 20 people online including a couple of people interested in joining the club. Our guest speaker was Beth Zutter, Community Librarian, Adult Services with the Strathcona Library. The library is very much still in business and available to the public - with online services. You can do almost everything from signing up for a library card to taking out e-books online. The librarians are available by phone to assist with any technical issues. Since many people have more time on their hands consider picking up a good e-book and enjoy the improving weather on their deck or in the back yard.
Strathcona Food Bank & Grocery Gift Cards
The need is great even in our community so at a recent board meeting we voted to contribute $500 to the Food Bank. Our original plan was to conduct a food drive. We were going to ask individual Rotarians to help out donating and gathering needed food. That becomes risky in this environment hence the donation of money. As individuals you can still help out by purchasing Sobeys/Safeway gift cards from Erin Stephen then drop them off or mail them to the Food Bank. This helps out our Interact Club and the Food Bank. Notice of Golf Tournament Cancellation for 2020
“Due to the impact of COVID-19, the Rotary Club of Sherwood Park has made the difficult decision to cancel our 28th Annual Golf Tournament planned for June 3. We will be back next year, bigger and stronger as we celebrate our 28th Annual Golf Tournament! We hope you will support, donate or join us in June 2021 at the Belvedere Golf & Country Club. Thank you again for your support!!”
What does the future hold in store? We don't know BUT the fall is still a ways away. This is the 30th anniversary of the club charter and if possible we would like to celebrate it in September or October.
Additionally an Octoberfest might be a good time to bring the community together for some overdue celebration. The German Cultural Society is still interested in partnering with us to put on this event.
