In case you haven't looked at the club Facebook page recently, do yourself a favour and do so. Steve has been busy and posts something virtually everyday. With it more active we are drawing more views and interest.

Do you tweet? Well the club now has a Twitter page. You can follow and share it with others. Steve has been busy with that as well. For those who haven't joined the Twitter following you can still see the posts. Google Twitter in your browser. Once on the Twitter website, search for @parkrotary

Sleep in Heavenly Peace

We may have slowed the economy and isolated ourselves but there are still important needs unmet in the community. Rotarian Neil Hayes has scheduled a bed build Saturday 11 July. To register go to the website:

Little Warriors

This is a worthy organization that has spoken to the club in the past. At the request of Edmonton Strathcona Rotary Club here is some information on their support of Little Warriors.

Little Warriors is a national, charitable organization focused on the awareness, prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse.  As with many groups Covid-19 has temporarily eliminated many of their fundraising projects.

Little Warriors' Be Brave Ranch in Alberta needs our help! Little Warriors has an urgent need to raise an additional $15,000 for their playground rebuild at the Be Brave Ranch. They are currently in the middle of the rebuild but are short on funds to complete the project. The funds raised from this raffle will go directly to help them cover costs of the rubber crumb ground cover for fall protection.

You can buy your tickets here: https://rafflebox.ca/raffle/littlewarriors

But more importantly we need the help of our friends, what do you have to do?  it's simple, forward the above Rafflebox link to all the email contacts you have that are located in Alberta and might be interested in helping out...anywhere in Alberta, this is a province wide 50/50 raffle.

Rotary Rides for You Can Ride 2

At the request of the Rotary Club of Spruce Grove here is another activity to support the community.

On Saturday, August 8, 2020, the Rotary Club of Spruce Grove is hosting Rotary Rides for You Can Ride 2, a motorcycle ride and poker run in support of You Can Ride 2, a program that loans adapted bikes to children with special needs.

The event begins in Spruce Grove, ends in Edmonton, and has a leisurely 250 km tour in between.  All the details about the event and the cause, including registration and volunteer links, can be found at https://sprucegroverotary.org/page/rotary-ride.

Right now, we are opening this event to only Rotarians and their friends and families as well as families and friends of the You Can Ride 2 program.  There are limited registrations available!  We are only taking 60 riders in this inaugural year, so act fast!  If you're a Rotarian who doesn't ride, and you live in or west of Edmonton, please consider coming out to spectate or volunteer!

For more details, contact Rick Lystang at 780-298-3021 or rick@rococohomesinc.ca.

Strathcona Food Bank & Grocery Gift Cards

The need is great even in our community so at a recent board meeting we voted to contribute $500 to the Food Bank. Our original plan was to conduct a food drive. We were going to ask individual Rotarians to help out donating and gathering needed food. That becomes risky in this environment hence the donation of money. As individuals you can still help out by purchasing Sobeys/Safeway gift cards from Erin Stephen then drop them off or mail them to the Food Bank. This helps out our Interact Club and the Food Bank. Information on how to contact Erin follows:

Rotarians can send Erin a text. 780-235-7465 Etransfer to erin.stephen@pwc.com It doesn’t require a password. She will arrange a convenient "contactless" drop off.

The address of the Strathcona Food Bank is:
255 Kaska Road
Sherwood Park, AB
