A very interesting talk with a surprise ending. Charlie Sarnoski (individual on the right) and ? (I think it is Trevor Dymchuk to the left) both spoke about Strathcona County Community Mediation. This group of volunteers work with community groups, neighbours, and organizations to help resolve conflicts and disputes. They work with the parties to get past the cloud of anger and frustrations and discuss with clarity the real problems. In some cases, disputes over a car chronically parked in the wrong place or damage to a fence have resulted in new life long friendships. In other cases resolution of disputes has at least removed a lingering frustration. The speakers closed by saying that the organization is in its 25th year because of a visionary (young?) RCMP officer who formed this group. They knew it was our very own David Asp (Past President) but apparently weren't acquainted with him. As you can see to the right, they are now!
