Speaker last week - Dennis Pommen.
Thanks to Dennis for speaking to us. Dennis is the Foundation Chair for this Rotary year. It is appropriate because he has many Paul Harris Fellowships and is clearly passionate about supporting Rotary worldwide.
Fund Raising for Relief Efforts in Beirut.
The membership voted in favour of fundraising for relief efforts in Beirut. We have the 50/50 license and will be sending out the link to Rafflebox asap, as soon as we've selected the charity. The raffle will only run until August 22nd. We have to donate by August 24th for Government of Canada matching, so this is a very short turnaround. Let's make sure we send this out to our friends, family, and professional networks if possible. If this is successful, we would like to consider running 50/50s for other specific projects or for a general project/relief fund as well.
Join a Committee.
Are you on a committee? Want to join a committee? Please plan to attend the meeting Friday. Want to know who's who in committees. Click on the button just below called "Committee List".
Reminder to everyone that our archivist committee is in the process of collecting photos and documents from our past. If you have any Rotary related information, please send it to the Archivist Committee:
Phillip Springer, Steven Lee, Frances Yarbrough, and Dennis Pommen. Send to any one of them.
Website Design Committee.
Ade's son Jefferson has volunteered his time to help us design/program the new website. We're very much looking forward to having his help and want to extend our gratitude.
Covid-19.
We are 5 months into the pandemic. It can be frustrating, lonely, and even surreal. Let's work together as a club and as friends to keep spirits up and help prevent us from becoming complacent. Complacency can be very dangerous. Keep washing those hands, keeping 2 metres apart, wear your mask, and most importantly reach out to your friends and family. Let them know you're still there. We're doing a great job so far, but we're not at the end yet. Keep up the good work!
